After I "retired," I eventually discovered that we need a new word for this stage of life. It's not as if I've "gone to bed for the day." It's a looking backwards word (retired from "paid" work) and doesn't have the energy of forward-looking. Congratulations on reaching this milestone and may it unleash all the energy needed to pursue your dreams.
Writing from the perspective of being retired 15 years, you nailed it! It’s been such a challenge and joy - growing, reflecting, new experiences and friends.
Thank you for your very informative piece on your next chapter in life. Prior to bicycling in Europe, I would recommend Timothy Evan’s book to you, if you have not already read it, “A Pilgrimage to Eternity” which he wrote after his pilgrimage from Canterbury to Rome. He was hoping to re-ignite his faith, and found smatterings of it along the way. It was a lovely read and helped me to remember to pay attention as I travel through my life’s journey.
Also, I will wait for information from ULS, about the course you are teaching in January. I would love to take it, if it is given online. I won’t be traveling to Gettysburg or Philly from Maine in January. 😂

Sue, Thank you. THis seems to reflect what many have told me. I'm looking forward, leaning into the future. Jim
Thank you, many have said similar things.
Betty, Funny you should mention Evan's book. I found a copy used last month at a book store and grabbed it.
I'll get you and others info on the ULS course later in the fall
